Peace - Pottery Barn Knock off

I fell in love with a sign I saw at the Pottery Barn earlier this year - a simple red and white sign that said PEACE.

I knew I could make that sign  - easy peasy with my Silhouette and vinyl.  So for a couple of months I have been planning this.  I had red paint, white paint a board and vinyl.  All I needed was the time!

I first used acrylic paint in red to paint my board.  Then  I cut my letters on in vinyl and placed on my board.  Next came my home-made crackle paint -

I took elmers glue and thinned it with water so it as about 3 parts glue to 1 part water,  Painted the board (over the red) and one the glue set for about 2 minutes I painted with a coating of the white acrylic paint.  I let it dry for about a half hour and it was fun to watch the paint "crackle"" as it dried.

Next remove the vinyl letters (when the paint is dry of course!  Next I used my sander to rough to board up a bit - here is the complete project:

Joy!

Christmas is by far my favorite time of year!  I love to decorate it gets me and anyone who visits in the holiday spirit.

My most current creation is simple yet very pretty/  I made this will a cheap frame from Hobby Lobby.  Background is simply scrapbook paper and letters are cut on my Silhouette Cameo from red glitter vinyl  which really  pops on the black and white picture.  The photo does not do it justice!

Creating wedding gifts

My brother surprised us all when he called and said he was getting married in 2 weeks!  EEK - I had to quickly design and make a wedding gift that I could bring on a flight to Dallas.

I lie floating frames and have always wanted to make a wedding name one so here goes....  Not perfect but I like how it turned out.  I tried the "wet method" of applying that some use to limit bubbles - it was difficult and I won't be doing that anytime soon again!   But I think it turned out nice.

You are my sunshine!

For today's craft I started with a blank white canvas from Michaels.  Painted it with Lemonade acrylic paint the modge podged some scrapbook paper over the top.   I actually used homemade modge podge which is 2 parts Elmer's glue to 1 part water.

Once that dried I cut the words and sunshine from vinyl on my Silhouette.  So simple and easy!  I love how it turned out and I am going to makeover my bedroom in yellow, grey and teal blue so this will fit right in!

Baby Subway

My first attempt at subway art!  This is for my friends new grandson.  I painted a 9" X 12" canvas from Michaels and cut vinyl on my trusty Silhouette! I like the way it turned out and I learned a bit about canvas and paint when layering with vinyl.

26 Days to Vacation - I am on a countdown!

I love travel and vacations...who doesn't!  This year we are bless to be able to go for not 1 but 2 weeks to my favorite island in the world...St. Maarten!  Oh yes God is good!

Here is where we will be staying:

Oyster Bay Beach Resort on Dawn Beach.  It's in a little town called Oyster Pond and it sits right on the international boarder between Dutch St. Maarten and French St. Martin.  How can such a small island be 2 countries?  But it works just fine and we get the best of both where our resort is located!

Before we leave however we have the wedding of our oldest son - 12 days from now.  There is much to do so I will not be able to focus on our vacation until after the big event!  Then I will try to pack for 2 weeks and keep my luggage limited to 50Lbs - any suggestions?  Have a great week friends!

Next project....Pallets and Vinyl

My hubby is going to bring me home some pallets so I can begin work on this sign for one of the upcoming weddings....what do you think?

Weddings!

Happy New Year!  We have not 1 but 2 sons getting married in 2013.  Hard to believe it but our babies are growing up!

First up Kurt and Tori are getting married on Jan 26, 2013.  Then Jacob and Hannah will be married on September 28, 2013.  They got engaged at the Warrior Dash earlier this summer - a muddy mess but truly a great photo opportunity!

We are looking forward to both events and wish them life long happiness!
Todays craft - Etched glass... Created the stencil on my Silhouette... That do you think?  Cheap wine glasses from the dollar store - turned out pretty good I thought.
