Printing on burlap. Who knew it was so easy!

My daughters friend asked me to help make a template for the mason jar mugs they were having as guest gifts at their wedding.  The saying was Eat Drink and be Married.  I thought it would be cute to also have a sign by the mugs.

I have been waiting to try burlap printing ever since I saw a tutorial on using your printer to print on burlap.  I cannot believe how easy it is - this took me all of 10 minutes!  I used the heat and bond method.

Here the link to the tutorial I followed.  Enjoy!how-to-print-on-burlap

Peace - Pottery Barn Knock off

I fell in love with a sign I saw at the Pottery Barn earlier this year - a simple red and white sign that said PEACE.

I knew I could make that sign  - easy peasy with my Silhouette and vinyl.  So for a couple of months I have been planning this.  I had red paint, white paint a board and vinyl.  All I needed was the time!

I first used acrylic paint in red to paint my board.  Then  I cut my letters on in vinyl and placed on my board.  Next came my home-made crackle paint -

I took elmers glue and thinned it with water so it as about 3 parts glue to 1 part water,  Painted the board (over the red) and one the glue set for about 2 minutes I painted with a coating of the white acrylic paint.  I let it dry for about a half hour and it was fun to watch the paint "crackle"" as it dried.

Next remove the vinyl letters (when the paint is dry of course!  Next I used my sander to rough to board up a bit - here is the complete project:

Joy!

Christmas is by far my favorite time of year!  I love to decorate it gets me and anyone who visits in the holiday spirit.

My most current creation is simple yet very pretty/  I made this will a cheap frame from Hobby Lobby.  Background is simply scrapbook paper and letters are cut on my Silhouette Cameo from red glitter vinyl  which really  pops on the black and white picture.  The photo does not do it justice!

Creating wedding gifts

My brother surprised us all when he called and said he was getting married in 2 weeks!  EEK - I had to quickly design and make a wedding gift that I could bring on a flight to Dallas.

I lie floating frames and have always wanted to make a wedding name one so here goes....  Not perfect but I like how it turned out.  I tried the "wet method" of applying that some use to limit bubbles - it was difficult and I won't be doing that anytime soon again!   But I think it turned out nice.
